This Tooth Whitening procedure, also called Tooth Brightening or Bleaching, can significantly lighten the colour of natural teeth. Quite a few cosmetic dentists in London now offer it. Teeth Whitening has become very popular because it can be done at any age, is harmless and relatively inexpensive.

Tooth whitening is achieved by applying an oxidising gel in two alternative methods:

'At home' method
Firstly, we will make accurately fitting trays of your upper and lower teeth, using a special thin and light transparent material. Then you place a small amount of 15% Carbamide Peroxide gel on the inside surface of each tray and wear them overnight for about 8 nights.

'In surgery' method
This is a faster process, using a stronger gel. Firstly, we cover the gums around all the upper and lower teeth with a special protective rubber material, ensuring that the lips and the tongue are kept out of the way. Then we place a 35% Hydrogen Peroxide gel on the tooth surfaces. A special light source, applied to each tooth or all teeth together, accelerates the whitening process. The procedure takes 1-1½ hours, so you can listen to music or watch a DVD movie.
