What if some of the stronger gel touches other mouth areas?
Soft mouth tissues will go white for a while. But no damage is caused because we neutralise and reverse the effect by applying Vitamin E gel.
Does the treatment hurt?
Generally, the process is painless. However some people may experience a slight tingling during the procedure and/or some degree of temperature sensitivity or a minor dull ache for up to 24 hours. Taking an analgesic will easily resolve these symptoms.
How long will Whitening last?
The effect usually lasts up to three years, gradually diminishing over time. However your teeth are highly unlikely to revert to their original colour. You can gain maximum benefit by following a few simple guidelines: maintain a high standard of oral hygiene; avoid consuming large amounts of heavily stained food or drink (like red wine); and avoid heavy smoking.
How much does it cost?
This varies according to which method you choose. Fees range from £400 to £1,200. As an indication, we would charge around £800 for the 'in surgery' power whitening method, which we recommend as being the most common, effective and time efficient procedure.
Does it cost less to renew the treatment?
Yes. You can expect a discount of 20-25%. This can be higher if you choose the 'at home' method.
Do I need a consultation first?
We would certainly advise it, although a consultation is not essential. Tooth whitening is one of a number of procedures involved in smile and tooth enhancement. We may need to consider other issues beforehand, such as the shape and position of teeth and the presence of any fillings crowns or veneers that will not whiten. Looking at your existing tooth colour and understanding your habits will help us predict the degree of success.
